Här finns vanliga frågor och svar
The trail is marked from both directions?
Yes. You can hike and find your way both from the south and the north.
Is there water along the trail?
Water is available in many places along the trail. Sites with available water marked on the website are either municipal water or undergoing sampling to ensure that the quality is good. Sometimes the samples taken by each municipality can show that the water should be boiled before swallowing. Information on this should then appear.
The trail passes a long line of lakes. It is not recommended to drink this water without first boiling it.
How far do I hike in one hour?
Expect to walk about 3-4 km per hour on a lowland trail such as Bohusleden.
How difficult is the distance I want to walk?
Bohusleden's stages are graded as follows:
Very light: Smooth terrain with firm ground, the entire stage is accessible by wheelchair.
Easy: The trail runs on ground that is flat or has a slight slope. The surface of the trail is flat and level, without high steps or obstacles.
Medium: Good accessibility but varying terrain can occur. All or part of the tour goes on a nature trail. There are some level differences.
Challenging: Limited accessibility due to steep passages and larger level differences requiring good fitness. (However, this does not necessarily mean that the entire route is difficult.)
Are there stages that are wheelchair accessible?
There are not entire stages adapted for wheelchairs. However, there are parts of stages that can be used.
Are there fireplaces?
There are huts/shelters and rest areas that have wood laid out. When this occurs, there is a symbol for a fire place. However, we cannot promise that there is fire-wood just the day you arrive there.
Can I expect to fit in a hut/shelter?
No. Usually there is only one hut/shelter per section with room for 5-8 people. These cannot be booked. Especially during high season you are recommended to carry a tent if you want to sleep outside.
Can I book a campsite or shelter?
No. None of our camp sites or shelters can be booked in advance.
Can I set up my tent wherever I want?
You are allowed to camp for a few days in the wild under the right of public access. However, if you are camping in large groups with many tents, you must ask the landowner for permission. Remember not to disturb the landowner or harm nature. Choose to pitch the tent on sturdy land and not in used pasture, agriculture or planting. The tent site must not be located near dwelling houses. NOTE: Overnight bans are often prohibited in national parks and nature reserves.
Remember to bring garbage and garbage with you. Dig holes a good distance away from joints, streams and tent site when going to the toilet and then cover. Do not use degradable detergent and do not wash too close to waterways.
It is usually possible to pitch their tent in connection with the prepared camp sites along the trail, with proximity to the toilet, garbage can and drinking water.
Can I take the dog with me on the hike?
The dog is often a nice companion during a hike. However, it is important to follow the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency's guidelines that the dog should be kept on a leash during the period March 1 - August 20. This is to protect the wildlife and their young.
Even during other periods of the year, the dog should be kept under supervision to prevent it from hunting wild.
Also show consideration for other people along the joint system, keep in mind that many are afraid of dogs.
When passing whree there are gracing animals extreme caution is required. Cows and horses are often curious about, or afraid of, dogs and can then become approachable and / or angry. Therefore, keep a good distance!
Can you hike during the hunt?
In the autumn, hunting is in full swing in the western Swedish forests. Dogs are used both during elk hunting and deer hunting. It is of the utmost importance that you as a guest on another's land show consideration for the hunters and their working dogs. Never disturb a driving hunting dog. Also, don't take care of a hunting dog - it will find home! The first few weeks of hunting are the most intense, but there are those who actively hunt January out. In order not to disturb the hunt unnecessarily, it is recommended to use only the camp sites arranged along the trail for overnight stays.
